‘Puppy killer’ faces jail, fine
A COMPLAINT for violation of Republic Act 8485, or the Animal Welfare Act, was filed on Friday against a security guard who allegedly threw a puppy from an overpass in Quezon City on Tuesday.
The complaint was filed by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) against
Jojo Malicdem before the Quezon City prosecutor’s office.
PAWS executive director Anna Cabrera said among the pieces of evidence they obtained was the sworn testimony of a witness to the incident.
If the complaint is elevated to the court, Malicdem could face imprisonment of more than one year and a fine of P100,000 if convicted.
