CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga– More than 200 loose firearms were voluntarily turned-over and surrendered by gun owners to authorities during the launch of the “Oplan Katok” drive in Central Luzon from March 19 to April 19.

Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said “Oplan Katok” is a program of the Philippine National Police where authorities go house-to-house to visit firearm holders who have not renewed their firearms license yet to urge them to renew their firearm permits or have their guns stored in police vaults for safekeeping.

Hidalgo said the PRO3’s month-long “Oplan Katok” successfully resulted in the safekeeping of assorted calibers of firearms.

“May these figures remind us that owning or possessing a firearm entails responsibility and every gun holder is accountable and responsible to follow the provisions of the law,” the CL top cop said.
