THE Philippine National Police headed by General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. on Saturday spearheaded a mega-job fair in Caloocan City amid its continuing effort to help the Marcos government generate more jobs for Filipinos.

Led by PNP Director for Police-Community Relations, Major Gen. Edgar Alan O. Okubo, the Revitalized-Pulis Sa Barangay or R-PSB Mega-Job Fair was held at the San Lorenzo covered court in Barangay 176, Caloocan City.

The mega-job fair saw 14 companies namely Acabar Marketing International, Inc.,

Alorica Teleservices Inc., Djobsite General Services, Paperland Inc., Exxcell Workforce Solutions Corp., Paramount Human Resource Multi-Purpose, Puregold Price Club Inc., Ravago Equipment Rentals Inc., Ryder and Sparks Prime Corp., Super Shopping Market-Novaliches, Zesto Corporation, Abenson Ventures Inc., Star Appliance, and Super Value Inc- Fairview offering job to 2,500 applicants from Bgy. 176.

Northern Police District director Brigadier Gen. Rizalito G. Gapas and Bgy. 176 officials and Department of Environment and Labor representatives led by Albert Ferrer Jr. were present during the event.

Maj. Gen. Okubo said the job fair is aligned with Gen. Acorda’s 5-Focused Agenda on Community Engagement.

He said that Bgy. 176 in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City was considered the most densely populated barangay in the country housing approximately 360,000 residents.

Maj. Gen. Okubo said that the barangay’s extensive population has resulted in a substantial portion of residents grappling with unemployment prompting them to employ the support of the R-PSB to alleviate the plight of the poor residents.

The official emphasized that R-PSB functions as a civic action group with the responsibility of linking community issues and concerns from the government to the people and vice versa.

He also e-affirmed the need for continued collaboration with the Public Employment Service Office and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to deliver these worthy initiatives for the people.

PESO is a non-fee charging multi-dimensional employment service facility or entity established in local government units in coordination with the DOLE.

The official said that the mega-job fair was part of the PNP’s staunch support to Executive Order 37 signed by President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr. last August 10 to emphasize the collaboration of all agencies for the security and development of the country.

He also urged the community to support their R-PSB program which was primarily designed for the people, an avid proof of the PNP’s mandate to serve and protect.

Maj. Gen. Okubo said the program particularly aims to bridge the gap between the government and the people and ensure that all community concerns are effectively communicated and addressed.

Gen. Acorda has commended Okubo for effectively leading their R-PSB program.

“This initiative not only reflects the PNP’s commitment to community engagement but also exemplifies our agency’s relentless efforts to create tangible positive impacts in the lives of our citizens,” Gen. Acorda said in citing Maj. Gen. Okubo’s exceptional leadership and dedication in spearheading the R-PSB program.
