PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. has assured the public they are fully investigating all reported crimes in the country with the end in view of sending the perpetrators to jail.

This developed as the PNP dismissed reports being circulated on social and mainstream media that a ‘serial killer or a criminal gang’ riding a white van was behind the recent incidents of killings and abductions in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

PNP spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo said there were different suspects with different motives in the recent reported kidnappings. One of the cases being investigated is that of a 25-year old man who was snatched by armed suspects in Taal, Batangas last week before his body was found abandoned in Sariaya, Quezon hours later.

The top cop said that the Rizal Police Provincial Office has also formed a special task force to conduct a deeper investigation into the death of four persons whose bodies were found inside a car abandoned in Barangay Macabud in Rodriguez last Monday.

He added that the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station received a call informing them the discovery of the bodies of four unidentified persons inside a Nissan sedan with plate no. NGU 1923.

“A Special Investigation Task Group has been created to dig deeper into the case. We want to establish the motive and apprehend the culprit. Police authorities are on top of this and seek to uncover the truth and vow to serve justice,” Azurin said.

Two of the male victims have been identified by their relatives while the other two who are both women are yet to be identified.

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ C. Abalos Jr. said he has instructed the PNP leadership to give him detailed reports on incidents involving abductions and killings in the country.

“I had a talk with Chief Jun Azurin. I asked him to give a report to me kasi of course may mga lumalabas sa kung ilan-ilang media, I just want to make sure anong timeline nito, are these true? Are these fictitious? Give me that report para maski papaano, maireport naman natin kaagad ito sa publiko,” the official told the press.

“I have to see the report, ‘yung nakikita kasi na kumakalat, he informed me, he gave me numbers at sinasabi niya sa akin, there were some na years ago, months ago, nirerehash daw. It would be hard to comment on something that we do not have the numbers yet,” he added.
