PNP assures support for mock elections

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief General Dionardo B. Carlos yesterday said they will assist the Commission on Elections in conducting a mock 2022 national and local polls in selected areas in the country.

According to the top cop, the conduct of a nationwide mock election this coming December 29 will help the police force observe the actual flow of process for next year’s elections.

“We will be waiting for the official advisory from the Comelec regarding the planned mock elections. But definitely, the PNP is willing to extend assistance for this activity,” Gen. Carlos said.

The PNP chief said that this pre-election activity will help the PNP in determining strategic plan for the deployment and evaluation of the aspects that need improvement.

Under the Omnibus Election Code, PNP personnel aren’t allowed to get inside the different voting precincts although they will maintain peace and order around the vicinity.

Police will play a major role in securing the transport of ballots and other election paraphernalia during the election.
