ANOTHER shipment of 1.5 million doses of China-made Sinovac vaccines arrived yesterday morning at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA)Terminal 3 on a Cebu Pacific flight from Beijing, China while another one million Sinovac vaccines will arrive today.

Both shipments will be immediately transported to the PharmaServ Express cold storage in Marikina City.

The shipments were cleared by the Bureau of Custom after representatives from the Department of Health and Food and Drugs Administration presented advance copies of the shipment consigned to the health department.

All COVID-19 vaccine shipments that arrived at the NAIA were pre-cleared by the Port of NAIA’s One Stop Shop prior to its arrival.

Meanwhile, the local government of Marikina City guaranteed the safety of COVID-19 vaccines being stored by the DoH’s national cold-chain facility partner amid the flooding and thunderstorms being experienced in Metro Manila in recent days.

In an interview, Mayor Marcy Teodoro said the vaccines are safe since PharmaServ Express’ storage area is located on the second floor of the cold-chain facility.

Teodoro explained that the vaccines are being shipped on the same day or the following day to various local government units in Metro Manila and to the provinces.

He added that PharmaServ Express’ cold-chain facility is also prepared for power interruptions as it has backup generators that can provide sufficient electricity to keep the required temperatures for vaccines.
