MAGTUTUNGO patungong Brunei si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong Marcos Jr. sa darating na Martes para sa isang state visit mula May 28 hanggang 29.

Sa pre-departure briefing sa Malakanyang, sinabi ni Foreign Affairs spokesperson Maria Teresita Daza na naimbitahan ang Pangulo ni Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah para bumisita sa kanilang bansa.

Ayon kay Daza, kukumustahin rin ni Pangulong Marcos ang mga Filipino sa Brunei.

Ayon sa DFA, nasa 25,000 ang mga Filipinong naninirahan sa naturang bansa.

“There will be a business forum where the President will meet with top members of the business sector to promote trade and investments relations between the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam,” pahayag ni Daza.

“The Philippines and Brunei are strong regional partners, are members of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA),'” pahayag ni Daza.

Mula sa Brunei ay didiretso si Pangulong Marcos sa Singapore.

Ayon sa DFA official, magsasalita ang Pangulo sa 2024 International Institute for Strategic Studies o IISS Shangri-La Dialogue.

Ang IISS Shangri-La Dialogue ay mahalagang pagpupulong sa Asya na nakasentro sa mga usaping pang-seguridad hindi lang sa rehiyon kundi sa buong mundo.

Sinabi naman ni Assistant Secretary Aileen Mendiola-Rau ng DFA Office of the Asian Pacific Affairs, isang lider lang ang nagde-deliver ng keynote address sa okasyong ito kada taon at si Pangulong ang napili para sa 21st edition ngayong taon.

“Yes, there are some heads of government also attending the Shangri-La Dialogue and some parliamentarians. So, we expect several side meetings during the Shangri-La Dialogue and you will be finding out once we complete all the arrangements,” pahayag ni Mendiola-Rau.

Idinagdag naman ni Daza na mahalaga ang pagdalo ni Pangulong Marcos sa Singapore para mapag-usapan na rin ang mainit na isyu sa West Philippine Sea lalo’t kasama sa pagpupulong ang mga defense ministers mula sa ibat ibang bansa.

“When you have a forum such as this, it gives a good platform for a country to actually expound and articulate its position on key issues. So, it will be an important platform for us to actually also convey our positions relative to what is happening within the region and how… and what we are advocating for. So, it’s something that is useful not only for those who are attending but also for the country who’s actually participating in this international fora,” dagdag ni Daza.
