P59.3M MJ destroyed in Kalinga

TINGLAYAN, Kalinga — Operatives from Cordillera scored anew by destroying more than P59 million worth of marijuana under the Kalinga Provincial Police Office (PPO) Oplan 08 India “Invicible” and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Oplan “Jolly Green” in a two-day operation in three plantation sites in Bgy. Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga last Wednesday and Thursday.

Kalinga PPO Director PCol. Davy Vicente M. Limmong in his report to Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-COR) Director PBGen. Ronald Oliver Lee yesterday said the operation was launched by joint operatives from PDEU Kalinga, PDEA-CAR Kalinga, Tinglayan MPS, CIDG, 1st KPMFC, 2nd KPMFC, RID/RPDEU PRO-COR/RIU14, PIU Kalinga, PNP DEG SOU 1 and Naval Forces Northern Luzon.

Limmong’s report said the marijuana eradication resulted in the uprooting and destruction of 24,000 fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) planted in an estimated land area of 3,000 sq.m. with a standard drug price (SDP) of P4,800,000 in site 1.

In site 2, there were 100,000 FGMJP planted in an estimated land area of 10,000 sq.m. with SDP of P20,000,000. Found also in the site were bricks of marijuana dried leaves weighing 270,000 grams placed in three sacks and one sack containing marijuana dried stalks weighing 10,000 grams with SDP of P33,600,000.

In site 3, there were 4,800 FGMP planted in an estimated land area of 600 sq.m. with SDP of P960,000.

Limmong said the FGMJP in the three sites totaling 128,800 pcs. planted in an estimated 13,600 sq.m. land area, and the recovered marijuana dried leaves placed in seven sacks and marijuana dried stalks wrapped inside a blue canvas had a combined total SDP of P59,360,000.

To recall, operatives recovered 311 pcs. of marijuana bricks worth P37,320,000 last April 18 at Bgy. Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

The marijuana eradication was documented at the area of operation and later uprooted and burned onsite.
