THE leadership of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) reportedly ordered a parallel investigation in a reported “heated arguments” between Philippine National Police (PNP) Aviation Group and Airport police at the NAIA Terminal 1, departure area, Thursday morning, December 3, 2022.

In a telephone interview, Maria Consuelo Bungag, airport public affairs head, confirmed General Manager Cesar Chiong immediately ordered the investigation to determine the root cause of the incident between officials of PNP-Aviation and Airport police.

“Tama yun nag-order na si GM (Chiong) ng investigation pero wala naman shootout na nagyari,” said Bungag.

Bungag said Chiong had already tasked retired General Manny Gonzalez to investigate the incident between the two security groups at the country’s premier airport.

The probe team has already collated all the available CCTV (closed-circuit television) camera footage to see all the incident angles and to finalize the investigation.
