MWP for ‘rape’ in Ilocos Region falls

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – Police arrested Sunday a “rape” suspect, tagged and listed in the “top 10 most wanted person (MWP)” in the Ilocos Region in a resort in Barangay 51-A Nangalisan, Laoag City.

According to Col. Julius C. Suriben, Ilocos Norte police director, the suspect, a resident of Bgy. 31 Talingaan Proper, Laoag City, was nabbed by the tracker team of Pinili MPS (Municipal Police Station) led by Capt. Kester L. Arellano, together with PSET, Laoag CPS (Community Precinct Station), Batac CPS, San Nicolas MPS, Badoc MPS, RMFB1, SAF (Special Action Force), 2nd PMFC, RID 1, PIU (Provincial Intelligence Unit) INPPO (Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office) and PIDMU INPPO.

“Even our province was hit by the typhoon, our men are still working, resulting in the arrest of this top wanted person,” said Suriben.

Suriben said the suspect was facing rape charges under Article 266-A, Paragraph 2 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC).

The official added that no bond was recommended by Judge Bonhofer Vergara Bernardez, Regional Trial Court, 1st Judicial Region, Branch 1 of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

“Arrested person was appraised [of his] constitutional rights, then brought to Pinili health office for physical examination. Subsequently, the accused was brought to this office for documentation and proper disposition prior to turn-over to the court of origin. The implementation of warrant of arrest was conducted with the use of Body Worn Cameras in compliance with the rules of BWC in the execution of warrants,” Suriben said.
