THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) led the “Bayanihan sa Barangay” project bringing its services and regular activities relevant to its mandates to the residents of Barangay Tañong yesterday morning in Malabon City.

Personnel from various MMDA offices conducted flushing, cleaning, and misting at Malabon Central Market, declogging of drainage and repair of drainage, trimming and pruning of trees, sidewalk clearing, painting of yellow box and posting of traffic signage.

Orientation on solid waste management, anti-smoking/vaping, anti-littering, disaster preparedness, and traffic management were also conducted for the residents of the barangay.

MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes said the “Bayanihan sa Barangay” project was the agency’s way to make its services more accessible and closer to residents of the area.

He likewise highlighted the importance of a clean-up drive in the area for undisrupted water flow toward pumping stations to reduce flooding.

Aside from the cleaning and clearing operations, the MMDA also brought its mobile materials recovery facility (MMRF) where residents can exchange their collected recyclables for grocery items.

It also installed a one-stop shop query service where resident motorists can check their traffic-related violations.

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said the project would affirm commitment to creating a safer, cleaner, and more organized community.

“Through this initiative, we are showing the true spirit of Bayanihan. Through our unity and collaboration, we are strengthening our community. Sama-sama nating gawing mas maganda at mas maayos ang ating lungsod,” she said.

Meanwhile, Malabon City Representative Jaye Lacson-Noel thanked the MMDA for its efforts and assistance in making the city more resilient to floods than the previous years.
