A 41-year-old mechanic landed in jail after threatening a female vendor with his firearm after the latter confronted him for “touching” and caressing her legs while under the influence of liquor Sunday evening in Malabon City.

Malabon Police Chief P/Col. Albert Barot said operatives of Sub-Station 5 led by P/Cpl. Romel Fader and P/Cpl. Johnny Hobi, Jr. recovered a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine loaded with four pieces of ammunition from the suspect from Marilao, Bulacan, after he was arrested for threatening a female vendor who tried to fight back when he allegedly touched and caressed her legs.

An investigation was conducted by P/SSgt. Mardelio Osting and P/SSgt. Diego Ngippol showed that while the victim was sitting and tending her merchandise in front of an ice cream parlor along Paradise Village, Bgy. Tonsuya, at around 10:30 p.m., the suspect approached and suddenly touched her legs while under the influence of liquor.

The victim, in a fit of rage, tried to fight back, prompting the suspect to draw his firearm and threaten the woman.

Neighbors of the victim who witnessed the incident came to her rescue until the timely arrival of responding operatives of Malabon Police Sub-Station 5 which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

Barot said the suspect failed to show the necessary documents for the firearm and ammunition when asked by the responding policemen.

The suspect was presented for inquest proceedings on charges of violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, Acts of Lasciviousness and Grave Threat before the Malabon City Prosecutor’s Office.
