MABALACAT City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo reminded residents of the city to take necessary precautions against dry season illnesses.

He advised his constituents to safeguard their health and well being as temperature rises worsened by the El Nino phenomenon.

Garbo, who is the League of Cities of the Philippines’ (LCP) Focal Person for Health, told Mabalaqueños to stay hydrated, protect their skin from excessive sun exposure, and be vigilant against the potential risks associated with the hot and dry weather conditions.

“To my kabalens, please take care during this very hot season. Always drink water to rehydrate and protect your skin from overexposure from the sun,” the mayor said.

Garbo also reminded residents to be vigilant against pertussis or whooping cough.

He highlighted the importance of staying informed and taking preventive measures against this highly- contagious respiratory disease.

The Department of Health (DOH) reassured the public that vaccines for pertussis are readily available in the country.

“I have instructed our City Health Office and Rural Health Units in Mabalacat City to closely monitor the situation regarding pertussis,” Garbo said.

“There have been no reported cases of pertussis in Mabalacat. Nonetheless, the Mabalacat City government urges the public to remain vigilant and informed about this serious disease,” the mayor added.
