A RETIRED policeman wanted for three counts of child rape and abuse on Thursday was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group in Tarlac City.

The 47-year old suspect, who retired with the rank of Police Senior Master Sergeant, is the subject of a warrant of arrest for three counts of rape and five counts of acts of lasciviousness under Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, said PNP-IMEG director Brig. Gen. Warren F. De Leon.

The official said that members of the IMEG Luzon Field Unit under Col. Joseph Fajardo, with the support of the local police, tracked down the accused in Bgy. Caranguian, Tarlac City around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

The PNP-IMEG director said that Judge Joeferrson Toribio of the Tarlac City Family Court Branch 11 recommended no bail for the three counts of rape charges filed against the suspect.

However, the court recommended a total of P1 million bail for the five counts of acts of lasciviousness or a P200,000 bail for each case.

De Leon said the case stemmed from the complaint of a minor and her mother who sought the help of the Tarlac City Police Station in filing criminal charges against the accused on April 10, 2023.

The suspect is now being held at the Tarlac City Police Station jail pending his presentation to court and issuance of official jail commitment order.
