Mayor Honey, VM Yul Servo launch ‘Nakakarinig ang Maynila’ program

THE Manila City Government formally launched a significant event that will responsd to the hearing problem of infants and senior citizens Monday at the Kartilya ng Katipunan beside the Manila City Hall.

Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto led the launching of the program “Nakaririnig ang Maynila” a hearing health awareness advocacy, with the theme “Manila Hears, Mayora Listen” which signifies their mission of no more hearing impaired Manilans by the year 2030.

The city chief executive said the program is still related to the celebration of World Hearing Day on March 3 wherein the Manila Health Department (MHD), in partnership with six public hospitals in the city, coordinated with the Department of ENT of the University of Sto Tomas (UST) to perform free hearing screening and ear check-ups, including infants and senior citizens who are suffering from hearing problem.

Mayor Honey expressed her gratitude to the personalities who participated in the program including Dr. Norberto Martinez, President of Beter Hearing Philippines, Dr. Christopher Gloria, ENT specialist, Mr Hubert Ramos, UST Audiologist, Dr. Josephine Bundoc, Chairman of the Board Physician for Peace and Emissary to the Sponsorship of the Hearing and Barangay Chairman Jefferson Lao, President of the Manila Chinatown Barangay Organization.

During the launching, the mayor encouraged all employees of the local government who are suffering from hearing problem, to proceed to the conference room of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila (DTCAM) and be the first to benefit the free hearing screening and ear check-ups..

“Ito naman po ay gagawin din po natin sa iba nating mga health facilities. So, sabihan nyo po ang inyong mga kaanak, mga kapuwa kawani, mga kaibigan, na kapag ito po ay sinimulan natin sa ating mga health centers ay tumungo po sila dito, Huwag po kayong mag-alala dahil ito naman po ay i-aanounce natin sa ating official FB page,” Mayor Honey stated.
