Sharpshooting cop makes PNP, alma mater proud

KNOWN for his sharpshooting and combat skills, this young police officer has blossomed into a cop that makes the Philippine National Police and his alma mater, the PNPA, really proud.

Many superiors, colleagues and subordinates have described Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Lopez Manongdo as an embodiment of a police officer who can always work under pressure, one that is able to maintain his composure and have sound judgment and decision-making skills during times of need.

A member of PNPA ‘Marangal’ Class of 2005, Manongdo has already received numerous accolades throughout his 18-year in service.

In 2009, he was awarded with PNP Medalya ng Kadakilaan for leading the rescue efforts of 130 people in San Jacinto, Pangasinan during the onslaught of super typhoon ‘Pepeng.’

The rescue efforts made him one of the EB Heroes during in December 2009.

In 2016, Lt. Col. Manongdo became one of the Country’s Outstanding Police Officers in Service or COPS following a nationwide search conducted by Metrobank Foundation, Inc. It was a feat that has cemented his status as one of the country’s finest officers.

On the same year, he was also named the National Awardee for Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer in the field of Police-Community Relations.

Under his guidance, the Pozorrubio Municipal Police Station in Pangasinan also became an awardee for Best Police Station in the field of PCR in 2016.

In 2017, he became a Distinguished Lakan Awardee during the PNPA anniversary.

In 2020, his unit, the 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force, was awarded as the Best Provincial Mobile Force of the Police Regional Office 6 in Western Visayas.

The same year also saw him being chosen as a Lingkod ng Bayan Regional Awardee by the Civil Service Commission Region 6 office for his dedication and commitment to public service.

Currently assigned at the Rizal Police Provincial Office, the official has consistently displayed a remarkable track record of honor, discipline and excellence over the past 18 years, ready to enforce the law without fear or favor.

He proved that when he was tasked to oversee the takeover of the Asingan Municipal Police Station in Pangasinan after the unit was rocked by allegations of involvement of many of its members in illegal drug activities.

Lt. Col. Manongdo also served as the supervisor of the intensified war on drugs in Cebu province when he was still its Deputy Provincial Director for Operations.

Many would also remember him as the Task Force Commander of the Metro Boracay Task Force, which kept the peace and order in the world-famous tourist destination before it was briefly closed to address environmental concerns in 2018.

Prior to that, he was the commander of the 2nd Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company from 2018 to 2019.

Lt. Col. Manongdo also served as the Battalion Commander of the 6th Special Action Battalion of the PNP Special Action Force and led his men in combating eight New People’s Army Guerrilla Fronts in Western and Central Visayas regions in 2021

The official finished his secondary education as a scholar of the Saint Louis University in Baguio City before joining the PNPA and graduating in 2005.

He got his Master in Public Administration from the University of La Salette in Santiago City, Isabela and took up Law at the University of Pangasinan.

The official was a 2nd placer in a Police Executive Senior Eligibility Examination administered by the National Police Commission nationwide and also placed 8th during a Napolcom Superintendent Examination.
