THE city government of Caloocan conducted a free livelihood training for persons with disability (PWDs) and their families as well as for solo parents at Barangay 73 to help provide opportunities to the beneficiaries.

Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan said that this was in line with his vision to give every citizen equal means to earn a living and reach out to the city’s most vulnerable sectors.

“Ang pagsasagawa natin ng libreng training ay bahagi ng ating paglalayon na mabigyan ng pantay-pantay na oportunidad ang bawat Batang Kankaloo na kumita o magkaroon ng sariling pangkabuhayan,” Mayor Along said.

Through the coordination of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) at Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), a total of 40 individuals were taught how to make “puto,” a local delicacy and dishwashing liquid.

According to PESO Officer-in-charge Violeta Gonzales, the livelihood requires minimal skill and a small capital.

Meanwhile, PDAO Action Officer Kim Daeam Sabay said their department will continue to coordinate with various organizations to help provide more opportunities for PWDs, in line with Mayor Along’s directive.
