Lhuillier joins Sports on Air

WELL-known sports patron Jean Henri Lhuillier will be the special guest in the 46th “Sports on Air” via Zoom this Friday, Nov. 11.

Lhuillier, president of the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL), will talk about the Filipinos ‘ chances in the WSBC Men’s Softball World Cup scheduled Nov. 26-Dec. 4 at the Rosedale Park in Auckland, New Zealand.

The world No. 21 Philippines is in Group A of the prestigious 12-nation, 50-game tournament, along with the defending champion Argentina, No. 5 Czech Republic, host and No. 6 New Zealand, No. 7 United States and No. 12 Cuba.

Group B is composed No. 2 Japan, No. 3 Canada, No. 4 Australia, No. 9 Venezuela, No. 10 Denmark and No. 11 South Africa.

The Blu Boys, who qualified to the World Cup by finishing second to Japan in the Asian qualifying event early this year, will play the US on Nov. 26, Argentina on Nov. 27, Cuba on Nov. 28, New Zealand on Nov. 29 and Czech Republic on Nov. 30.

The final and placement round will be played on Dec. 1-3 while the championship and bronze medal game will be held on Dec. 4.

It was the ninth time in 11 tries that the Filipinos have qualified to the World Cup where their best finish was fourth place way back in 1968.

Blu Boys head coach Apol Rosales will lead the team’s campaign.

This will be the 46th episode of “Sports On Air”, the hottest and most comprehensive sports talk show on air.
