BARANGAY Ginebra is back.

Still smarting from a 73-91 setback to Meralco right before the league went on its All Star Weekend and Holy Week break, the Gin Kings came charging back to roll back Magnolia Hotshots, 87-77, in the Easter Sunday Special Manila Clasico of the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Five players, led by Stanley Pringle, scored double figures for coach Tim Cone-mentored Gin Kings.

Pringle finished with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and six assists in 32 minutes of action.

Maverick Ahanmisi and Japeth Aguilar added 16 points apiece. Aguilar also had nine rebounds and three assists.

Christian Standhardinger also played well as he contributed with a near triple-double of 11 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists.

Jamie Malonzo chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds for the Gin Kings.

“It’s a huge win. I think our confidence took a little bit of a hit when we played Meralco. We need something to get us back going forward,” said Cone.

“This was truly an effort game for us, it wasn’t pretty, just a real good effort on defense. We hit the ball hard, we got back well, all those effort things came out tonight especially in the second half.”

Ian Sangalang spearheaded the Hotshots with 17 points on 5-of-12 from the field, and three rebounds in 37 minutes of playing for coach Chito Victolero.
