THE proposed “Trabaho Para sa Pilipino Act” is getting support from the members of the House of Representatives.

House Bill 8400 author Parañaque Representative Gus Tambunting said the seeks to institutionalize and expand the National Employment Recovery Strategy (NERS) to a jobs creation plan and appropriate funds.

Tambunting said the jobs creation plan, integrating to the 2021-2022 NERS — the government’s master plan for recovery of the labor market adversely affected by the pandemic — would be the state’s employment recovery and generation masterplan.

The bill, one of the priority measures by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., will integrate the efforts of various government agencies on employment to create a coherent and cohesive employment policy.

It also seeks to synchronize government policies, programs, activities, and initiatives to optimize job creation and economic recovery.

Tambunting highlighted the key provisions of the bill such as the establishment of a Jobs Creation Plan (JCP) which shall serve as a national master plan on employment generation and recovery to promote programs on skills development and enhancement to create decent employment, promote employability, competitiveness, wellness, and productivity.

He added that the bill is one of the many solutions to the issues of unemployment throughout the Philippines.

“Other issues like minimum wage and other labor standards shall be taken up at the appropriate forum and time, House Bill 8400 is a landmark generation of jobs legislation that will propel our employment sector towards an integrated framework that would allow better program design and targeting,” Tambunting said.
