Job creation, MSMEs

AS part of efforts to speed up the country’s economic recovery, the government has prioritized job creation and assistance to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Of course, President Marcos’ administration should be commended for its avowed commitment to help the working class, which is acknowledged as the main creator of wealth in society.

And admittedly, there is still a long way to go to enable our workers to survive the rising cost of living not only in the metropolis but throughout this Asian nation.

That’s why we doff our hat to the administration of President Marcos, through concerned government agencies, for providing help to small businesses and the so-called MSMEs.

In a speech during the distribution of various government assistance in Northern Samar last Friday, Marcos described the small businesses and MSMEs “as the roots of our economy.”

The hard-working Chief Executive from Ilocos Norte said the government wants to invigorate and revive the MSME sector and assured the nation’s cooperatives of government help.

He led the distribution of assistance from the Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Social Welfare and Development and Department of Labor and Employmnent.

Likewise, President Marcos admitted many businesses were hit hard by the crippling and paralyzing two-year coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Talagang maraming tinamaan ng mabigat, diyan naubos ang kanilang savings, nagsara ang kanilang negosyo…’Yan ang mga hinahanap namin para tulungan,” he declared.

Helping our distressed small businesses and MSMEs is a move in the right direction.
