Helper nabbed for guns, ammo in Taal

CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas – A 48-year-old helper was arrested after guns and ammunition were recovered from him during the serving of a search warrant in Taal, Batangas, around 12:55 p.m. on Monday, provincial police PIO (Public Information Officer) chief Police Lieutenant Pauline P. Fernando said.

A report by Batangas Police Director Col. Pedro D. Soliba to P/Brig. Gen. Jose Melecio C. Nartatez, Jr., Police Regional Office (PRO) Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) director, said the suspect was single and a resident of the said town.

Taal Municipal Police Station (MPS) Chief P/Maj. Dante L. Majadas led the said operation and seized the firearms and ammunition when they served a search warrant at his house on January 30 and seized a Smith & Wesson Cal. 38, a caliber 45 colt, ammunition, and magazines for two handguns.

The operation was conducted by the Taal MPS police personnel according to a search warrant issued on January 23, by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 86 of Taal, Batangas, for violation of Republic Act 10591 or “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”

Soliba said the suspect is now in the custody of Taal MPS for appropriate disposition.
