DEPARTMENT of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco underscored the critical role of tourism in the development and transformation of the Philippine economy when she presented the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2023-2028 during the Tourism Stakeholders’ Summit held in Manila on March 15, 2023.

With the vision of making the Philippines a tourism powerhouse in Asia, the NTDP 2023-2028 will serve as the framework of national government in the implementation of various programs, projects and activities for the growth, development and transformation of the nation’s tourism.

“The NTDP is framed by the strategic values of Philippine identity, sustainability, resilience and global competitiveness,” Secretary Frasco remarked, adding that aside from sustainability, the Plan will also serve as a guide towards achieving an innovative, inclusive and globally competitive tourism industry for the country.

“Most importantly, becoming a truly global destination demands that we provide an authentic Filipino experience for our visitors – creating distinctly Filipino experiences through our food and farms, our fashion and festivals, our arts and crafts, our traditions and practices, and the Filipino brand of service,” she conveyed.

The DOT is set to formally submit the NTDP 2023-2028 to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for final approval.
