Eleazar inspects police stations during Ilocos visit

CAMP BGEN M FLORENDO, La Union – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar inspected the police stations in Ilocos Region during his visit to the north.

Eleazar together with other PNP high-ranking officials conducted random inspections in different police stations in the region to check on the implementation of his Intensified Cleanliness Policy.

Eleazar later led the conferment of award to PNP personnel who displayed exemplary performance of their duties and paid a courtesy call to the local chief executives, the advocacy support groups and force multipliers in the four provinces.

In Ilocos Sur, Eleazar and his group received a warm welcome from Mayors’ League national president Luis “Chavit” Singson and Gov. Ryan Singson.

Meanwhile, a program was held at the Police Regional Office-1 (PRO-1) grandstand last July 1 in support of various PNP programs, including the BARANGAYanihan Food Bank where food packs were distributed to indigent beneficiaries while donations for the program were received from Donikko G. Zambrano, Manager of Northern Farmers’ Link Trading Corp., and Engr. Erwin Samson, Diego Silang, Mason Lodge, Worshipful Master.

In support of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, the program also included the acceptance of NPA surrenderers and reading of the Oath of Allegiance. The surrenderers received food packs and cash incentives.

As part of efforts to combat the spread of the COVID-19, the police received medical supplies and PPEs from the OCD and DOH, and these were distributed to the Police Provincial Offices.

The chief PNP also led the blessing and turnover of ICT equipment for Drug Related Data Integration and Generation System, seven motorcycle units and 20 mountain bikes to the La Union Police Provincial Office, and Enhanced Combat Helmets Level III and Ballistic Eyewear to PRO-1.

Eleazar and Gov. Singson likewise led the blessing and inauguration of the Bantay Municipal Police Station at the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office; distribution of food packs for BARANGAYanihan projects in Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office; and turnover of four motorcycle units, one Mitsubishi L300 van, 56 units of Body Vest Level IIIA, 10 units of Caliber 9 mm pistol, two units of Carbine CZ Assault Riffle, 20 pieces solar lights, 20 units Android phones, 20 pieces water pumps, 500 pieces of face shield, 500 pieces of face mask and 100 pieces of food packs to the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office.

The event was followed by the blessing and inauguration of the newly-constructed SMART Building, Basketball Court, Children’s Park, Tennis Court and Lounge and the ceremonial demolition of the old PRO-1 administrative building.

In his message, Eleazar stressed the importance of exaggerated cleanliness in all police offices and lauded PRO1 Director B/Gen. Emmanuel Peralta along with his provincial directors for maintaining impressive cleanliness in their respective areas of responsibility.

“Ako ay labis na nagagalak sa police stations na aking pinuntahan… Nakita ko ang kalinisan hindi lamang sa loob kundi pati sa labas ng mga police stations,” Eleazar said.

A press conference with the chief PNP was also held at the Tennis Lounge where the firearms seized and confiscated during police operations were presented. Present at the press conference were the director for Integrated Police Operation-Northern Luzon Lt. Gen. Marni Marcos, Director for Police Community Relations M/Gen. Rhodel Sermonia and Director for Comptrollership M/Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr.
