Ecija SACLEO nets 21 suspects, 66 loose guns

CABANATUAN CITY — A massive crackdown against loose firearms implemented in Nueva Ecija during localized Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) resulted in the arrest of 21 suspects and the confiscation of 66 loose firearms.

Provincial police head Col. Richard V. Caballero said 13 of the 66 loose guns were confiscated during search warrant operations, six from quick police reactions, and 47 from safekeeping via the Philippine National Police’s “Balik-Baril” program.

Caballero said seized were 16 cal. 45 pistols, 24 cal.38 revolvers, two magnum 357, eight cal. 38, seven 12-gauge shotguns and nine cal. 9mm pistols.

A total of 13 persons were nabbed during separate search warrant operations, with Gapan having two arrests; Licab, two; Bongabon, one; and Cabanatuan City, San Jose City, Palayan City, Carranglan, Guimba, Nampicuan, Peňaranda, and Rizal having one arrest each.

The Talavera police station under Lt. Col. Ranny Casilla registered the most number of those arrested during quick police reactions, with four arrests made, followed by San Jose City, with two; and Peňaranda and Lupao, with one arrest each.

These SACLEO accomplishments were achieved during a three-week period starting from January 23 until February 14, Caballero said.
