E-Trike driver dies in Batangas road crash

AN E-trike driver was declared dead at the hospital after accidentally hitting the gutter and crashing his head while traveling along Barangay Santa Anastacia Road in Sto. Tomas City, Batangas, the other day.

Sto. Tomas City Police Station case investigators PMSg Sonny Boy Ligsay and P/Cpl. Jimuel Valencia identified the fatality as Billy Manago, a native of Aguada, Magallanes, Sorsogon and residing at Mt. Claire, Bgy. San Rafael, Sto. Tomas City, Batangas.

A telephone call from a concerned citizen was received by city police personnel at 9:45 a.m. and informed about the incident.

Initial investigation disclosed that at about 5:18 a.m., Manago was seen driving the E-trike traversing in front of the KINPO Gate 2, H.Y. Dimacali Avenue, in Bgy. Santa Anastacia, Sto. Tomas City, and when maneuvering to the left, accidentally hit the gutter hard and fell on the ground.

The driver’s head hit the pavement, and he slumped, bloodied.

Police invited the lone eyewitness to the station and gave his sworn statement about the tragic incident.

The E-trike incurred considerable damages while the driver was rushed to St. Frances Cabrini Hospital for medical treatment, but at around 8:37 a.m., he was pronounced dead by the attending physician, Dr. Ethel Gamban.
