Dubai-bound Pinoy fighter at Sports On Air

B0XING and combat sports will be the focus of attention in back-to back special editions of the “Sports On Air Weekly” via Zoom

Filipino boxing champion Vincent “Asero” Astrolabio of General Santos City and his MP Promotions coach Nonoy Neri will take the limelight on Thursday, Feb. 17, while Wrestling Association of the Philippines president Alvin Aguilar, former Philippine Judo Federation head David Carter and Kurash Sports Federation of the Philippines president Roland Llamas will join discussions on Friday, Feb. 18.

Astrolabio and Nery will talk about the much-awaited World Boxing Council (WBC) intenational bantamweight showdown against two-time Olympic gold medalist Guillermo “The Jackal” Guillermo Rigondeaux of Cuba on Feb 26 in Dubai.

Astrolabio, the 24-year-old MP Promotions fighter making his first international appearance, and Nery are set to leave for the UAE capital on Friday.

Aguilar, Carter and Llamas will talk about their preparations for the coming Southeast Asian Games scheduled May 12-23 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Wrestling is one of the medal-rich events in the SEA Games with 18 golds at stake. Judo and kurash have 13 and 10 golds, respectively.

This will be the seventh and eighth episodes of “Sports on Air Weekly”, the newest sports program managed by veteran sports journalists Ed Andaya of People’s Tonight, Ernest Leo Hernandez of SOA, Gerard Arce of Bulgar, Ivan Saldajeno of Philippine News Agency and Gab Ferreras of Sports PH.
