DPWH completes P468M Ecija road projects

TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – The Department of Public Works and Highways-Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineering Office based in this town announced the completion of two connectivity projects that is expected to ease traffic for motorists plying the town of Sto. Domingo going to Aliaga and Talavera and vice versa.

DPWH-NE-1ST DEO head, Engr. Armando Z. Manabat said these newly-completed road infrastructure projects, built at a total cost of P468 million sourced from the General Appropriations Act of 2021, are now open to the public and will reduce by more than 50 percent the travel time in the said areas.

Manabat said travel time from Sto. Domingo to Aliaga is expected to be cut from about one hour to only 20 minutes, while the Sto. Domingo to Talavera route will now just take 10 minutes from the previous 30 minutes.

The newly-opened Sto. Domingo to Aliaga road segment involved the construction of a 2.2 kilometer-long road and a 90.8-meter concrete bridge that traverses Barangays Dolores in Sto. Domingo and San Carlos in Aliaga. It received a budget of P233.5 million.

Meanwhile, an appropriation worth P234.4 million was allotted by the national government for the construction of a 2.4-kilometer road including the 153.5 meter-long bridge which connects Barangay San Agustin in Sto. Domingo and Barangay Pag-Asa in Talavera.

Manabat said these twin projects are expected to boost local trade and commerce in the area provide a safer and faster delivery of agricultural produce to market centers and offer the public comfortable travel and quicker access to social and healthcare services.
