DEPARTMENT of Migrant Workers (DMW) Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo J. Cacdac extended the DMW’s sympathies and condolences to the husband and family of the Filipina who died in last week’s fire at the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Sharjah district.

Cacdac spoke with the husband and assured him of the DMW’s and government’s fullest support during this difficult time.

The DMW’s Migrant Workers Office in Dubai (MWO-Dubai) reported that one Filipina died while 10 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and two children were injured in the fire that razed a 39-storey residential building in the Sharjah district last April 4, 2024.

MWO-Dubai has visited all the injured OFWs and two children to ascertain their condition and to determine their additional needs. They are recovering at a local hotel arranged for them by Sharjah local government officials.

MWO-Dubai is working for the repatriation of the remains of the Filipina who died in the fire. Her husband, who was among those injured, was discharged from hospital yesterday and is recuperating from his injuries at the residence unit of a family friend.
