THE city government of Manila was commended by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its swift distribution of the national government’s financial aid under the special amelioration program (SAP).

Mayor Isko Moreno welcomed the recognition which he said may be attributed to the efforts of the Manila Social Welfare Department headed by Re Fugoso.

Moreno received the award dated June 30, 2021 given by DILG Secretary Eduardo Ano “in recognition for your efficient and timely completion of the distribution of Ayuda to your constituents despite of the challenges of the pandemic, in accordance with the DSWD-DILG-DND Joint memorandum Circular 1, Series of 2021.”

According to Moreno, the said recognition will inspire the city government and all its concerned personnel to continue and even strive harder to serve Manilans even better.

The award was given in connection with the fast, orderly and efficient distribution of the SAP in Manila in May, which was 100 percent completed way ahead of the deadline given by the national government for the purpose.

The mayor also shared the award with the daycare workers and social workers who worked hard to finish the distribution within 35 days of operations only. Citing a report forwarded by Fugoso, the mayor said a total of 380,820 families have received P4,000 each in financial assistance from the national government.

Moreno also thanked President Rodrigo Duterete, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of National Defense (DND) for the more than P1.5 billion handed over to the city as he reported the 100 percent completion of the SAP distribution before the set deadline.

Meanwhile, Moreno bared the good news that the city government of Manila has already found the money needed to ensure that all families that were able to get SAP in May will also get the same kind of aid this ECQ.

It was learned that P1,488,630,000 was downloaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development to Manila last week.

While thankful to the national government for the cash aid for Manilans, the mayor explained that the amount given in April was P1,523,278,000.

This being the case, Moreno said 8,662 families will not be able to receive the amount of P4,000 each or 43,000 mouths will go hungry so that he asked Fugoso to find a way to get additional funds to cover the P35 million difference, so that all the 380,820 families who received the SAP cash aid last time will also get the financial assistance this time around.
