FORMER Senator Leila De Lima accused Sen. Imee Marcos of being a top apologist for former President Rodrigo Duterte after she described as “overacting” or OA the critics of the secret pact with China on the non-supply of the BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Sen. Marcos was quoted as saying that the alleged secret agreement was practical, a statement that earned her much criticism from De Lima and other personalities and groups.

“Sen. Imee is just being consistent in her role as a top Duterte defender/apologist which baffles many,” De Lima, who was jailed during the term of Duterte for being critical of his bloody drug war.

“What is clear is that Duterte entered into a secret agreement with Xi Jinping on the non-confidential subject-matter of resupply trips to our outpost in Ayungin Shoal well within our EEZ, the supposed details of which are just being disclosed now,” she added.

De Lima cannot understand how Sen. Marcos, being the chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, can defend Duterte’s act of surrendering the country’s territory and exclusive economic zone to China.

“The secretive manner of the conduct of foreign policy on a matter as important as surrendering our prerogatives within our own EEZ only makes the whole affair suspicious and reeking of a treasonous sell-out.”

Earlier, De Lima Duterte and other members of his Cabinet as all traitors to the Philippines for entering and acquiescing to a supposed “gentleman’s agreement” with China not to repair a Navy ship protecting Philippine territory in Ayungin Shoal in the WPS.

“Two years after they left office, the Duterte Cabinet continues its tradition of disorganization, incompetence and confusion. Now Panelo is saying there was never a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between Duterte and Xi Jinping, after Roque said there was and that because BBM is not living up to this secret agreement, the Philippines will lose Ayungin,” De Lima said.

“Which is which? These being Duterte’s men, there is no hope in getting any clear message or straightforward answer from them. But it does not matter. The only thing that matters is we know they are all traitors and will sell us for 30 pieces of silver. Mga Hudas sila sa Pilipinas at sa lahat ng mga Pilipino,” the former chair of the Commission on Human Rights declared.

Roque earlier confirmed the secret pact that Duterte entered into with China during his administration, that no construction materials will be allowed in resupply missions to BRP Sierra Madre that is grounded in Ayungin Shoal, only food and water.
