A DRUG den in Tagum City in Davao del Norte has been smashed by the local police following an anti-narcotics operation which led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of some P68,000 worth of shabu, Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 Director Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. announced on Wednesday.

The official said that one of those arrested during the anti-narcotics operation last Sunday was the suspected drug den maintainer, a “high-value individual” (HVI) in Southern Mindanao.

In a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the PRO 11 director said that the suspects were arrested in a sting at Purok 1, Barangay Canocotan in Tagum City.

Local policemen led by Major Dexter Cuevas launched the operation amid complaints that the suspect is maintaining a “drug den” where customers can buy and sniff shabu.

During the operation, officers arrested the HVI and his wife, and two drug den “visitors.”

Recovered during the sting were plastic sachets containing 10 grams of the so-called “poor man’s cocaine” valued at P68,000, assorted drug paraphernalia, several aluminum foils with suspected shabu residue, and the buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.

The suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Alba.
