A RESIDENT of Panabo City in Davao del Norte was arrested by local policemen on Tuesday for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 Director Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. said.

The suspect is now facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 following a raid in his residence on Tuesday afternoon, which led to the recovery of two unlicensed firearms and assorted live ammunition, said the official.

Silo said that members of the Panabo City Police Station, the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), the Regional Intelligence Unit 11, and the PRO 11 Regional Special Operations Group stormed the suspect’s residence in Purok 1 in Barangay Katipunan on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Gemma Betonio.

The search resulted in the confiscation of one caliber .38 revolver with four live ammunition, a 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing 17 bullets, and eight extra ammunition.

The suspect was arrested after failing to present any document authorizing him to possess the recovered pieces of evidence.

Silo said that the suspect will be facing charges for violation of RA 10591.
