CIDG nabs no. 6 MWP in Calabarzon

A MAN described as Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) region’s 6th most wanted person (MWP) was hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) following a manhunt operation in Imus City in Cavite, PNP-CIDG Director Major General Eliseo DC Cruz said on Wednesday.

The official said the suspect was collared based on a warrant of arrest for the importation of illegal drugs and falsification of commercial documents.

Maj. Gen. Cruz said that the suspect was arrested inside his house at Metroville Subdivision located in Bgy. Alapan 1-C in Imus City shortly before noon last Saturday.

Members of the CIDG Cavite Provincial Field Unit, headed by Lt. Col. Bryan Dexter Andulan, assisted by officers from the Cavite Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Imus City Police Station, served the warrant of arrest against the suspect.

Maj. Gen. Cruz said that the suspect is the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for violation of Section 4, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Danilo Leyva of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 175 last May 30.

He is also the subject of another warrant of arrest for falsifying commercial documents issued by Judge Immaculada Concepcion Ylagan-Galang of the Manila RTC Branch 18 last May 9. A P36,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspect in connection with the 2nd case.

Section 4 of RA 9165 refers to “importing” dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals, which carries the maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10 million upon conviction.
