Cavite marks Child Development Worker’s Week

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – In recognition of the valuable role of child development workers, the provincial government of Cavite, through the initiative of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and Association of Child Development Workers (CDWs), celebrated the “Child Development Worker’s Week” dubbed as “Child Development Worker Ako, Katuwang ng mga Kabataang Pag-asa ng Bayan, May Pandemya Man o Wala” on July 27, 2022, at the Provincial Gymnasium here.

Perla P. Reyes, National Federation President of Child Development Workers, formally opened the program with the acknowledgment of participants.

It was followed by the opening message of PSWDO Officer Felipa G. Servañez, wherein she expressed gratitude for the CDW’s dedication and commitment to providing early childhood education to young Caviteños.

Board Member Romel Enriquez, the chairperson of the Committee on Social Services, Family, Women, Children and Elderly, graced the event and delivered a message congratulating all the CDWs.

He extended his gratitude for their “sacrifices” and significant contribution to the preschool children’s physical, social, and intellectual development and the service they extend to the community amid the pandemic.

He also expressed his desire to provide additional benefits and allowance for the daycare teachers.

Furthermore, on behalf of Vice Governor Athena Bryana Tolentino, Theresa Llorente, Executive Assistant to the Vice Governor, gave her message of support and saluted the CDWs’ effort in molding the young minds of Caviteños despite the minimum wage they are receiving.

DSWD Region IV-A Assistant Regional Director Ricky Bunao lauded the significant contribution of daycare workers in the community as parents’ partners in molding their children’s character at an early age.

He stressed the importance of institutionalizing the Magna Carta of Child Development Workers.

The event’s highlight was the awarding of certificates and plaques of recognition for the CDWs who have rendered ten to 40 years in service to 168 daycare workers and 23 retirees as a tribute for their incomparable effort and compassionate service.

In the same event, daycare workers from the municipality of Naic, Gen. Mariano Alvarez (GMA), Rosario, Alfonso, Dasmariñas City, and Imus City were able to showcase their talents through intermission numbers.
