WITH the intensification of the national government’s revitalized anti-illegal drugs campaign, the Filipino people, including the ordinary citizens, expect the best in the days ahead.

This, after concerned government offices and agencies, realized the importance of working in unison with the private sector in addressing the country’s illegal drug problem.

Without doubt, there’s that urgent need to raise the awareness of the people, particularly the youth, parents and community leaders, about the ill-effects of prohibited drugs.

Aware of this, the state, through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), continues to intensify its nationwide multi-pronged anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Last Saturday DILG Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. launched the agency’s Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) ad campaign at the SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

The 30-second infomercial video of the BIDA campaign will be played in all SM cinema branches not only in the Metropolitan Manila area but throughout the country.

As a BIDA partner, SM Prime Holdings will play the infomercial ad free of charge, according to the DILG top honcho, son of former Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos.

Reports said the free showing of the infomercial video is seen to help the government in its crusade against the drug menace, which remains to be major problem of Filipinos.

In the view of various quarters, especially parents, the DILG’s BIDA program is a holistic approach to counter the proliferation of illegal and dangerous drugs in the country.

That’s why there’s a need for everybody to support the undertaking.
