THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced the arrest of four more foreign fugitives wanted for serious crimes in their homelands.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said four aliens, 2 South Koreans and two Chinese nationals, were arrested last Oct. 25 and Nov. 2 during operations conducted by officers from the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) in Pasay City and Oriental Mindoro.

Arrested last Oct. 25 inside a condominium unit along Balagtas St., Pasay City, was Korean Ko Chang Hwan, 52, who is wanted by authorities in his country for importing illegal drugs.

The BI-FSU said Ko is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Suwon district court in Ansan, South Korea where he is charged with violating his country’s narcotics control act.

It was also gathered that during the operation, the arresting agents encountered inside Ko’s residence Korean national Min Seokchul, 44, who was found to be overstaying since 2018.

On Nov. 2, a team of BI-FSU operatives arrested at a beach resort in Puerto Galera Chinese nationals Lu Changyong, 48, and Lu Changxin, 46, who are both wanted by Chinese authorities for large-scale fraud.

The Chinese government said the two fugitives are subjects of arrest warrants issued by the public security bureau in Jilin, China for committing contract fraud in violation of Chinese criminal law.

The four are currently detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, pending deportation. By Jun I. Legaspi and Hector Lawas
