A 24-YEAR-OLD farmer died after being stabbed multiple times inside his hut or “kubo” after coming from a drinking session in Purok 7, Bgy. Lumbang, Lipa City, Batangas on Thursday.

Lipa City Police Chief Lt. Col. Ronald P. Cayago said the victim was identified as Eging Escorial, a native of Vallehermoso town, Negros Oriental, and the suspect, a native of Dumaguete City – both residents of Purok 7, in Bgy. Lumbang, Lipa City.

Initial investigation showed that at about 7:30 p.m., the victim and the suspect had a drinking session earlier at 7:00 p.m., and after drinking, the victim headed to the farm hut.

Police said the suspect followed the victim inside the farm hut and, without apparent reason, stabbed the victim several times in the different parts of the body using a knife and quickly fled on foot after the incident.

According to the investigators, the victim died on the spot due to several stab wounds.

However, another farmer saw the incident, sought assistance from the barangay officials, and immediately reported it to the police.

Police conducted a follow-up operation and captured the suspect.

It was further revealed that the victim and the suspect had a “misunderstanding” while drinking, wherein the suspect got “angry” with the victim.
