NORTHPORT Batang Pier played just hard enough to roll back Terrafirma, 104-84, and register back-to-back victories in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Garvo Lanete, Robert Bolick, Jamie Malonzo and Sydney Onwubere produced big numbers for the Batang Pier, who won for the second straight time with team manager Bonnie Tan taking the place of Pido Jarencio.

Jarencio and his two assistant coaches — Rensy Bajar and Jeff Napa — are still under the league’s health and safety protocols until early next week.

No problem for the Batang Pier, however.

Lanete came off the bench to finish with a game-high 18 points for the Batang Pier, who improved to 3-3 and 2-0 in Bacolor play.

Bolick added 15 points, six rebounds, and eight assists, Malonzo contributed 14 points and Onwubere had 10 points as the Batang Pier put the game away right in the first half.

Tan said the team continued to follow the game plan of Jarencio.

“Again, it’s on the coaches and coach Pido’s system. Wala kaming pagbabago. We are just dedicating the games to our coaches. Enjoy the game lang kami kasi dikit-dikit ’yung game,” said Tan, who also piloted Letran College to the NCAA championship.

“I told the boys we’ll take the game one game at a time,” added Tan, referring to NorthPort’s next game against NLEX.

Roosevelt Adams and Aldrech Ramos finished with 14 points apiece for the Dyip, who have now lost two straight games after beating league heavyweights San Miguel and Barangay Ginebra.

Terrafirma dropped to 3-6 overall.
