ORION, Bataan – Barangay Gen. Lim is now emerging as a “tourism hub” due to its unique area, overlooking Manila Bay and its historic site being located just beside the Mt. Samat Shrine.

Although the barangay, located on a hilly portion just east of the Mt. Samat Shrine, lacks financial support from the national and local government, its barangay captain, Lorenzo Nisperos, has been “moving heaven and earth,” using his own resources and personal initiatives to improve the “Duhat Trail Site,” the favorite hangout of local tourists.

The favorite hours for tourists ascending the trail site are early morning, late afternoon, and evening in their bid to get a glimpse of the emergence of the rising sun and its cool and clean environment in the early evening.

Despite being a barangay, the village now has two live bands to fascinate tourists and two private swimming pools that are open to the public.

The latest swimming pool set up here was the “St. Dominics Glampsite,” operated by couple Carlo Zarate and Norin Domingo, known in the village for their hospitality.

The St. Dominics Glampsite’s pool is just a “tiny one,” but it was uniquely designed by the owners, impressing local tourists who have frolicked in it. The glampsite has aircon rooms facing the Mt. Samat Shrine and offers the fun of “camping” where one can surely relax and unwind as the area is just beside the historic Mt. Samat Shrine.

The couple plans to improve the area further to attract more tourists and make Bgy. Gen. Lim on the list of Bataan’s tourist sites.

“To protect our tourists coming here, I have doubled the tanod (watchmen) to assist and protect our visitors,” said Nisperos.
