THE candidacy of former Manila 5th District Rep. Amado “Daddy A” Bagatsing for the mayoralty race in the city of Manila has been endorsed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Bagatsing, the “Ama ng batang Maynila” according to Manileños, said that President Duterte has recognized his efforts as a congressman for 20 years in providing excellent and quality services not just for the residents of the 5th district but also for the citizens of Manila through the different programs and projects under the “Kabalikat ng Bayan sa Kaunlaran Foundation” (KABAKA).

The former Manila representative believed that sealing President Duterte’s endorsement is a testament of confidence in his ability to lead Manila, and due to his good track record and accomplishments in the city.

“Maraming salamat po sa tiwala President Duterte, your trust and confidence has inspired me to accomplish our similar beliefs and principles in providing just, efficient, and honest service for our kababayans,” said Bagatsing.

Bagatsing said the KABAKA foundation has already helped more than 500,000 families in the city of Manila in the last 36 years of its existence.

“Should we win in the polls, we can double or triple this number, most especially during this pandemic,” he added.

Present in the endorsement ceremony were officials of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi together with Senator Bong Go and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.

During the event, the PDP-Laban Cusi wing also sealed the coalition with Kabalikat ng Bayan sa Kaunlaran (KABAKA) party led by Bagatsing.

Bagatsing, together with KABAKA, said they will fully support the candidacy of presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio in her vice-presidential bid in the upcoming elections.

KABAKA, a brainchild of Bagatsing in the ’80s, is a foundation that provides free health services, benefits, and hospitalization for Manileños.

To further enhance its services, Bagatsing also launched the KABAKA Manpower Training and Assessment Center where Manileños can hone their skills and establish their own livelihood and soon become micro-entrepreneurs themselves. Nina JON-JON REYES & C.J. ALIÑO
