An influential leader
TIME Magazine has listed President Marcos as one of its “100 Most Influential People of 2024,” drawing cheers from various sectors of Philippine society.
By including him in the list, TIME acknowledged Marcos’ crucial role in the pre-pandemic recovery of the country’s still struggling domestic economy.
Likewise, the prestigious English-language magazine cited the Filipino Chief Executive’s stance against China’s aggression in the West Philippine Sea.
In the list are Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, incoming Taiwanese President William Lai, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin uJassim Al Thani
In an article written by TIME correspondent Charlie Campbell, President Marcos was cited for reshaping the country’s history and future.
“He brought technocrats back into government, steadied the post-pandemic economy, and elevated the Philippines on the world stage,” the article said.
The TIME article also underscored President Marcos’ decision to reinvigorate the country’s relations with long-time ally – the United States of America.
In the eyes of the people, particularly the ordinary citizens across the country, President Marcos has given Filipinos valuable insights into how we must learn from the past.
We take note too of President Marcos’ all-out efforts to unite the people for the sake of the country and the more than 110 million Filipinos.
These efforts, we think, are ample proof that the Ilocano Chief Executive is out to speed up the tempo of the country’s socio-economic development.
