AKSYON Demokratiko presidential bet, Mayor Isko Moreno, said that the Manila City government is readying measures in view of the threat of the reported new COVID-19 variant called “Deltacron.”

Moreno said that he and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, a lady doctor, is in charge of the city’s health cluster – constantly in touch to discuss ways to mitigate the effects of the new variant, in the event that it turns out to be highly infectious and poses the threat of another surge.

“Hindi po porke bumababa ang kaso ay magre-relax tayo. Hindi natin alam kung ano ang maaaring mangyari although nananalangin tayong huwag naman sana magka-surge,” Moreno said.

In the weekly capital report, Lacuna said that the quarantine facilities of the city have zero occupancies but that she and Moreno have agreed to keep them available in readiness for a surge.

“Sabi nga ni Yorme, daig ng maagap ang masipag kaya lagi tayong handa sa Maynila,” said Lacuna. Deltacron is a combination of the Delta and Omicron variants.

Lacuna also reported that the Manila COVID-19 Field Hospital headed by Dr. Arlene Dominguez and located at the Quirino Grandstand now has an occupancy rate of only 22%.
