A NOBLE project of the National Capital Region Police Office to serve free hot meals to poor residents of Metro Manila while inculcating on the minds of the people the need to properly wear face masks and face shields to protect them from COVID-19 has earned the metropolitan police force praises from the public.

They were referring to the NCRPO Mobile Kusina-Tele-eskwela-Bayanihan or MKTB project of the NCRPO headed by Major General Vicente D. Danao Jr. which has been ongoing since the start of the year.

Last Saturday, the program benefited 550 homeless/urban poor individuals as well as traffic enforcers and tricycle and food delivery drivers in Parañaque City.

Apart from being served hot ‘arrozcaldo with egg,’ juice, bottled water and bread and cookies, the beneficiaries also got free food packs and lectures on crime prevention, anti-illegal drugs and anti-terrorism, the government’s effort to end local communist armed conflict and COVID-19 prevention tips particularly those pertaining to minimum public health safety protocols.

The beneficiaries were also taught about the importance of using face masks and face shields and its proper use.

“Ipagpapatuloy po natin ang pagtulong sa ating mga kababayan lalo at humahaba na po ang ating laban kontra sa pandemya. Hindi lingid sa atin na sa hindi inaasahang krisis na ito, maraming pamilyang pilipino ang lalong nasadlak sa kahirapan at paghihikahos. Layon nating bawasan ang kanilang pasanin sa pamamagitan ng mga ipinamamahagi nating pagkain at health kits araw-araw.” Maj. Gen. Danao said.

The NCRPO-MKTB is one among the many initiatives of the NCRPO under Danao’s Project S.I.B.O.L. whose main purpose is to have multi-purpose vehicles rolling in the streets of Metro Manila to promote humanitarian missions in urban poor communities.
