AKO Bicol Party-list Rep. and House committee on appropriations chairman Rep. Elizaldy Co has led a successful medical and dental mission “Tarabangan Caravan” in Manito, Albay last March 24, 2023.

The event aimed at providing free medical and dental services to hundreds of residents who have limited access to healthcare services.

The Tarabangan Caravan is one of Ako Bicol Party-lists initiatives to bring healthcare services closer to the people in the far-flung areas of the Bicol Region. The party-list group has been actively supporting medical missions and health programs that cater to the needs of underserved communities.

The event was attended by hundreds of residents who availed of the free medical and dental services provided by Ako Bicol Party List. Doctors, dentists, and other healthcare professionals from various hospitals and clinics volunteered their services to ensure the success of the mission. Among the services provided were free medical consultations, dental check-ups and minor surgeries, and free laboratory tests.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to help the people of Manito, Albay, through the Tarabangan Caravan. It is heartwarming to see the smiles on the faces of the residents who received medical and dental care today. We hope that this mission will not only alleviate their health problems but also show them that their government cares for their welfare,” Co said.

Co stressed the importance of providing accessible and quality healthcare services to the people of Bicol. He stated that “Access to healthcare is a basic right that should be enjoyed by every Filipino, regardless of their location or social status.”

In addition, Rep. Co has been advocating for the construction of a new 20-storey hospital in Legaspi, Albay, equipped with modern facilities and a team of highly qualified medical professionals. This is to provide easy access to healthcare services for the people in the Bicol region and address healthcare disparities in the region.

“The healthcare system in Bicol needs improvement, and building a new hospital in Legaspi is a step towards achieving that goal. We hope that this new hospital will benefit not only the people of Albay but also the neighboring provinces in Bicol,” Ako Bicol Party List said in a statement.
