BATANGAS Capitol – Some 97 Batangueño seasonal farm workers were flown to Chuncheon City in South Korea the other day after holding the pre-departure orientation seminar at the Provincial Auditorium in Kapitolyo, City of Batangas.

The activity is related to the continuation of the “Seasonal Farm Workers Program” of the Provincial Government of Batangas through Governor Dodo Mandanas and the government of Chuncheon City.

This project is jointly managed by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) and the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO).

According to the two offices, the beneficiaries or selected to participate in the said program came from the 32 local government units (LGUs) of Batangas.

This is the fourth time the province will send seasonal farm workers to South Korea since the initiative was started in 2018.

Korean Studies Program Director (KSPD) of Ateneo De Manila University, Aurea Javier, gave a little background about South Korea, such as climate, culture, and so on.

Javier also mentioned a few reminders so that the Batangueños and future farms in Chuncheon City can have a good integration.

The oath of the undertaking was also part of the said activity, led by Provincial Administrator Wilfredo D. Racelis.
