AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) rescued nine alleged female victims of human traffickers from a suspected prostitution den during a recent operation in Urdaneta, Pangasinan.

The operation led by the NBI-Ilocos Regional Office (NBI-IRO) also resulted in the arrest of three suspected human traffickers.

The NBI identified the suspects as Edwin Ceniza, Asterio Campos Paris Jr., and Arnold Martinez.

The operation stemmed from a letter- complaint from concerned citizens seeking assistance in stopping the alleged prostitution activities of a resto-bar located at McArthur Highway, Brgy. Nancayasan in Urdaneta.

Initial information revealed that the resto-bar was being maintained and operated as an alleged brothel where adult female Guest Relations Officers (GRO) were being recruited for alleged prostitution.

Having confirmed that human trafficking was being committed by the maintainers of the bar, NBI-IRO operatives immediately hatched an entrapment operation.

Along with the social workers, NBI operatives swooped down on the resto bar to conduct the entrapment operation which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

The operation also resulted in the rescue of the nine women.

The suspects were brought for inquest before the City Prosecutor of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan for violation of Republic Act No. 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended.
