SIX family members, including three minors, died after being trapped in a fire that broke out in their house in Quezon City on Saturday morning.

Arson investigators identified the fatalities as Estelito Buenaflor, Allan Domingo, Domingo’s live-in partner Janelle Anne Merfria, and their three children, ages two, seven, and 12.

The victims’ remains were retrieved by firefighters in their two-story house at Villa Purina Subdivision in Barangay Pasong Tamo.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire started at around 1:54 a.m. and reached the first alarm. Firefighters declared fire out at around 3:20 a.m.

The BFP said the blaze originated on the ground floor.

Arson investigators said the victims may have attempted to flee their burning home.

Two of the fatalities were discovered on the first floor, and the mother and her 2-year-old son were discovered in the stairway. The report added that two other kids were discovered on the second floor.

It appears the victims tried to escape but got trapped as the windows were reinforced with steel grills.

Probers have yet to determine the cause of the blaze and the estimated cost of damage to property.
