PHILIPPINE National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) director, Brigadier General Remus B. Medina on Saturday announced the capture of five most wanted drug traffickers in the country in separate manhunt operations this week.

In a report to PNP chief, General Dionardo B. Carlos, the official said that the arrested suspects were all subject of warrants of arrest for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, issued by different courts.

One of the suspects identified as 55-year-old Sonny Ladrera, a resident of Yagit Street in Cavite City, was tracked down by PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit (SOU) 4-A operatives at the Cavite City jail where he was served a warrant of arrest for drug trafficking under RA 9165 with no bail recommended by Judge Ethel Andico-Malabanan of the Cavite City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 16 last October 27.

The two others identified as Anthony Santos, 43, and Mary Grace Abelda, 32, both residents of 1858 Oro B. Street in Bgy. 770, Sta. Ana, Manila, were arrested by PNP-DEG SOU 3 operatives with the help of the Manila Police District Station 10.

Medina said members of the PNP-DEG SOU 3 arrested the two, tagged as the 5th and 6th most wanted persons in Sta. Ana, Manila, respectively, on the basis of a warrant issued by Judge Caroline Colasito of the Manila RTC Branch 23 last October 25. No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the two accused.
