Female online seller burned, placed inside sack, buried in shallow grave

FIVE members of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office are under investigation for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of a 35-year old female online seller from Cavite whose body was reportedly burned by the suspects in Palayan City, the Journal Group learned on Monday.

The burned body of Nadia Casar was exhumed in Sitio Pinagpala, Barangay Imelda Valley in Palayan City on Sunday afternoon, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director, Brigadier General Valeriano T. de Leon said in a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillemro Lorenzo T. Eleazar.

The victim was reportedly abducted by the suspects in the afternoon of July 23 and was eventually killed, her body burned by the suspects. The motive behind the case is still being investigated as of press time.

Brig. Gen. de Leon identified the suspects as Staff Sergeant June Mallillin of the Palayan City Police Station; Master Sgt. Rowen Martin of the Cabanatuan City Police Station; Staff Sgt. Drextemir Esmundo of the Cabiao Municipal Police Station; SSgt. Benefict Reyes of the Sta. Rosa MPS; Corporal Julius Alcantara, a member of the Nueva Ecija PPO’s Drug Enforcement Unit; and a civilian named Franklin Macapag alias ‘Kelly.’

SSgt. Reyes has been arrested while Cpl. Alcantara surrendered to local police authorities, the Central Luzon police director said.

According to de Leon, one of the suspects he identified as SSgt. Mallillin confessed to investigators from the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), PRO3 Regional Intelligence Division, PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group, Nueva Ecija PPO Intelligence Unit and the Palayan City Police Station his role in the abduction and murder case.

The policeman claimed that after the victim was killed and burned, her remains were placed in a sack and buried in a shallow grave in Sitio Pinagpala.

Members of the PNP-AKG under Brig. Gen. Rudolph B. Dimas and the PNP-IMEG under Brig. Gen. Flynn E. Dongbo sought the help of the Nueva Ecija PPO to find the site and recover the victim’s remains. SOCO officers from the Nueva Ecija Crime Laboratory have processed the crime scene.
